ALL INDIA
SBI OFFICERS
EDUCATIONAL & WELFARE SOCIETY
We, the STATE BANK OF INDIA OFFICERS ASSOCIATION
(Delhi Circle), though basically a Trade Union Organisation
have never lost sight of our social responsibility to contribute our might for
the welfare of the society at large and
as such certainly cannot lag behind in noble endeavours.
The General Council of the Association at its
historic triennial session held at New Delhi on
the 22nd February, 1998, therefore, took the momentous decision to start
educational activities in our Circle comprising of Delhi, Rajasthan and parts of UP/Haryana.
The members of S.B.I. Officers Association (Delhi Circle) have
accordingly got registered an ALL INDIA SBI OFFICERS EDUCATIONAL & WELFARE
SOCIETY under Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The object of our Educational Society is to
establish progressive schools to impart sound all round education to children
to ensure integrated development of their personality combining the five
essential components embodied in the National Education Policy viz. (1)
Physical, (2) Practical, (3) Ethical, (4) Moral, & (5) Intellectual and to develop
citizens who will be truly Indian rising above social, communal, religious and
other prejudices.
We started our first school at Jaipur
on the 5th April, 1999. As they say, the charity begins at home. So, the
initial project was entirely funded by the office bearers of the Association
from their personal resources who gave individual contributions ranging from
Rs.1,100/- to Rs.5,100/-. Subsequently, a number of
our members poured their gracious contributions to sustain it to its present
level to set a glorious example of what a genuine desire and determination can
achieve for the
benefit of the community. Though, initially operating from a small rented
premises, the school earned good reputation in a short span and is well known
today for the quality of education imparted throughout Jaipur.
The school started from Nursery to Standard VIII.
It received Govt’s. recognition
in 2000. The teachers are well qualified, dedicated and fully devoted to their
task. The Principal, a highly qualified and well experienced one and a renowned
figure in the education circle of Jaipur. This school
is being run with missionary zeal.
Enthused and encouraged by the splendid success
and growing popularity of the school, the Society had obtained a plot of land
measuring 5,390 sq. Meters from Rajasthan Housing Board, Govt. of Rajasthan for
construction of a proper building with all modern amenities for setting up a
full fledged school from Nursery to 10+2 with hostel facility. The plot is
ideally situated in the posh locality of MANSAROVER with lively and pleasant
surroundings.
As
decided in the 4th General Council meeting held in December 2002, the task
of constructing the building of school was taken up by us in the right earnest
and members too enthusiastically responded to the Association’s call to
voluntarily donate a sum of Rs. 1,000/- each. Overwhelmed by the response and
the donations received, it was decided to build a spacious building. We are happy to report that the construction
work of building has since been completed and the school has moved to the new
building.
The
inauguration of the school building took place at the hands of the then Dy. Managing Director and Corporate Development Officer, Sh. S. Santhana Krishnan on 24th
September 2004. A grand function to mark the inauguration was organized by the
School staff and the function was well attended by representatives of all the
Circle Associations, top Executives of the Bank and Parents of school children
in big numbers. In addition to Dy. Managing Director
and CDO, the General Manager [Industrial Relations] and Chief General Manager
of Delhi Circle,
General Manager [Commercial] and various other Sr. Executives were present.
High praises were showered on the Circle Association for
constructing an elegant school building with class rooms of international
standards and wonderful horticulture work.
The
School has now received the affiliation from Central Board of Secondary
Education upto Senior Secondary level. There are 500
students in the school at present. All out efforts are being made to augment
the strength of the school so that it can break even at the earliest. Our Jaipur Zonal Office committee led by Comrade P.N. Sharma is
fully dedicated and determined to make the school viable at the earliest. A
loan of Rs. 3 crores was raised from State Bank of India for
construction of school building. A sum of Rs. 70 lakhs
plus interest has since been repaid in the loan account out of the levy amount
received from members on the occasion of recent salary revision and from the
collection account of school fee. We are thankful to members for their whole
hearted cooperation in bringing the school to its present level. We are confident the unstinted support
and cooperation in this sphere of activity which is a noble cause would
continue unabated.
The next project of the Society/Association will
be taken up at Delhi.
However, the projects of this nature and magnitude
involve considerable amount of money and our resources are meagre.
Therefore, unless our members, officers and staff of the Bank, and charity
minded philanthropic public extend financial and material support, it would be
difficult to implement the project.
We, therefore, appeal to one and all to contribute
generously for this noble cause and be a proud part of a nation building team.
A minimum contribution of
Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand Only) favouring
“All India SBI Officers Educational and Welfare Society” may be
sent through crossed cheque/bank draft to the
Association.
Friends, Gift of Education is
the Greatest of all Gifts and Charities. By making a small monetary
contribution, we shall all have the satisfaction of creating an Institution,
dedicated to the posterity, which will educate and illuminate not only our own
coming generations but also the society at large.
Awaiting your spontaneous and
overwhelming response.
Thank you,
Yours sincerely,
Sd/-
( T.N. GOEL )
General Secretary.
